It looks like whoever developed the planner basically scaled the shape of the normal scarecrow range up 2x and wound up with a shape like this because (my guess is) they did not understand or read the description of the deluxe scarecrow in the changelog: That explains how the normal scarecrow range got its shape.

The range described on the wiki currently matches with the stardew planner, but i believe both may be inaccurate given the evidence. You can click on a scarecrow to receive a count of crows that scarecrow prevented from eating crops.
